The Financial Services Authority (FSA)

The FSA is the independent watchdog that regulates financial services. It requires us to give you this document – please use this information to decide if our services are right for you.

 

Whose products do we offer?

We only offer business insurance products from a single insurer, Royal & Sun Alliance Insurance plc and Legal Expenses cover from Great Lakes Reinsurance (UK) PLC.

We act as agent on behalf of the insurers described above, collecting any insurance premiums as directed and issuing cover notes and policy documents to you under their direction.


Which service will we provide you with?

You will not receive advice or a specific recommendation from us. We may ask some questions to narrow down the selection of products that we will provide details on.  You will then need to make your own choice about how to proceed.

 
Our service also includes arranging your insurance cover with our single insurer which meet your requirements; and helping you with any ongoing changes you have to make. At renewal you will be informed of any changes and your policy will be renewed on an arranged basis.

 

What will you have to pay us for our service?

We do not charge you any fees or commissions for our normal services, however should you require a service that incurs a charge we will agree that with you in advance. We receive management and service fees from associated companies and receive commission directly from third party insurers in respect of the services we provide to them. It is our policy to disclose our remuneration levels in accordance with FSA requirements.
 

Who regulates us?

FirstAssist Insurance Services Limited, Marshall's Court, Marshall's Road, Sutton, Surrey SM1 4DU is authorised and regulated by the Financial Services Authority. Our FSA Register number is 310671.
 
Our permitted business is advising, arranging, dealing in, and the administration and performance of non investment insurance contracts. You can check this on the FSA’s Register by visiting the FSA’s website www.fsa.gov.uk/register or by contacting the FSA on 0845 606 1234.
 


What to do if you have a complaint

In our experience many problems can be resolved by speaking to the staff directly responsible for the handling of your policy or claim. They will do their best to address the problem and in our experience most issues can be resolved satisfactorily at this stage.

Are we covered by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS)?

Royal & Sun Alliance Insurance plc and Great Lakes Reinsurance (UK) PLC are both members of the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS). This provides compensation in case any member goes out of business or into liquidation and is any unable to meet any valid claims against its policies. You may be entitled to compensation if they cannot meet their obligations, depending on the circumstances of the claim.
